The Problem

We have already destroyed half our area of rainforest. We need urgently to save the half that’s left. Rainforests are the lungs of our planet – regulators of the Earth’s temperature and weather. Without them the climate will drastically change and extreme weather events – from floods to fires – will become more common. These habitats support 50% of the world’s animals and plants. It is estimated that over 1 million animal and plant species are now threatened with extinction, many within decades. This is more than ever before in human history; many scientists are calling it the sixth mass extinction. Reforestation can stabilise and nourish the soil, restore watersheds, revitalise dry springs and provide good quality water to large populations living downstream.

The Solution

We’ve embedded restoration into every transaction on the My Green Pod Marketplace. My Green Pod's World Land Trust certificateThis means that every time you shop with us, as well as supporting ethical businesses you’ll pay for a tree to be planted in the tropics (at no extra cost to you). We do this through our charity partner TreeSisters, which has planted 10 million trees. If you want to help but don’t need to buy anything, you can offset things like diet and unavoidable travel through Treedom, which also has a host of great tree-based gift ideas. Want to do more? Buying land through the World Land Trust conserves threatened habitats and all the species that live there.
