Valley Fest (03-05 August 2018) is a small, family-friendly festival in Somerset, in a breathtaking setting with panoramic views across Chew Valley Lake.
MyGreenPod is a partner of Valley Fest, and we’ll even deliver the latest issue of MyGreenPod Magazine to tents as a morning paper. This year we’ll also be holding the P.E.A. (People. Environment. Achievement.) Awards on site, in a festival-themed celebration of the superheroes who are changing the planet.
The festival takes place on a working organic farm, meaning sustainability, the provenance of food and respect for the land are all core to the fun.
Valley Fest is held at the Community Farm, a community-owned social enterprise that grows and sells organic food through a box delivery service.
It began in 2014 after Luke Hasell took over the farm when his parents both passed away in their early 50s. Luke was BBC Food & Farming’s Outstanding Farmer of the Year nominee in 2014 and is passionate about connecting people with where their food comes from and helping them to reconnect with the land that it’s grown on.
To honour his parents’ memory, Luke decided to put on an event that would encompass their zest for life and their love of good food – he set out to create a true celebration of life to share with those you love.
More than 500 local people share ownership of the Community Farm and everyone involved loves to throw their arms wide open for the weekend-long party that is Valley Fest! Kids can run wild, and adults can kick back and have a great time, too.
